Open-source software

Last updated 17 October 2026

Repertoire Studio is built on open-source software. This page names the parts whose licences ask to be named, and says where to get the source code of the chess engine.

The chess engine: Stockfish

Both the web app and the Android app analyse positions with Stockfish 18, as Stockfish.js: © 2026 Chess.com, LLC, based on Stockfish © T. Romstad, M. Costalba, J. Kiiski, G. Linscott and other contributors, with a neural network by Linmiao Xu. It is free software under the GNU General Public License, version 3.

  • The web app runs Stockfish.js 18 as its authors publish it, unchanged. Its source is at github.com/nmrugg/stockfish.js, and the source of the Stockfish it is based on at github.com/official-stockfish/Stockfish.
  • The Android app runs Stockfish.js 18.0.8 built for Android phones, with one line changed so that it builds outside a web browser. Download its source (0.6 MB): the original source, the change, and the script the app's engine is built with, explained in its ANDROID.md.

You can also ask for a copy of the engine's source by writing to support@trivedh.com, at no charge, for three years after we last distribute the version you have.

Chess pieces

The pieces were drawn by Colin M.L. Burnett and are used under the GNU General Public License (version 2 or later).

Icons

Icons from Lucide, © Lucide Icons and Contributors, under the ISC License; some are derived from Feather, © Cole Bemis, under the MIT License.

Opening names

Openings are named from lichess-org/chess-openings, which is in the public domain (CC0).

Libraries

The libraries each app is built with keep their own licence notices: the web app's in the files it serves, and the Android app's in its Settings → Open-source licences, which lists every one.
